NEW SHOES: ADIDAS STAN SMITH SHOES

It's my birthday tomorrow (I'm 20, how has this happened) and as an early birthday present from my parents I was lucky enough to receive these in the post a few days ago. I've wanted a pair of Stan Smiths for a while after having seen them styled up on numerous blogs and so I was incredibly excited to open them. Trainers aren't something I'd usually go for (I'm probably the least urban person you've ever met), but I've seen them paired with so many chic outfits recently and it's     really inspired me to give them a go. I love the way they look with culottes and skirts especially and so I can't wait to style these and attempt to emulate all of my favourite bloggers.  You'll be sure to be seeing these in a few outfit posts soon.

USE YOUR AND: SHARING MY ARTWORK

Some of my most recent 'work'

I've been really inspired recently by the Gilette Venus #useyourand campaign (if you don't know what it is, then watch the video here). I think it's so important to embrace as many different sides of your personality as possible and so I thought I'd share one of my 'and's with you. If you didn't know, art is one of my biggest passions. I actually took A Level art and did an Art Foundation course last year where I discovered a love for illustration (despite specialising in set design and making a 6 foot tall Crayola crayon for my final project but that's not the point.).

A selection of stuff from A Level and more recently
I didn't choose to study art at degree level, and coincidentally I really don't practice it enough. Recently I've been really trying to get back into illustration and I've taken my style in a totally new direction. I'm loving line drawings and using block colours and I'm so excited for exams to be over so I can work on improving my style and working up some bigger ideas.
Part of my copy of Hokusai's Great Wave

If you're interested in my art then I'd LOVE to share more with you on my blog. The first four images at the top of the post are just a few quick, recent examples of where I want my work to go in future.

If that's what your stomach looks like, go see a doctor.

What's your 'and'?

P.S: I apologise for the lack of blog posts recently. Life has been really crazy and I'm right in the middle of exam season so I'm feeling guilty doing anything but revising. If I'm not studying I'm procrastin-eat-ing (hate myself but the puns are the only thing keeping me going right now) and it doesn't leave much time for blogging. I have a lot planned for alldeathbydiamonds, though, so please don't give up on me!

HELP ME PICK A SWIMSUIT?

Whilst sitting completely bored out of my mind earlier (it's exam season again, hence the lack of posts!), I realised that it was about time I started swimming again. I used to love it and got really into it this time last year. It's a great way for me to attempt exercise without humiliating myself through the medium of 'team sports' (I am never, ever going back to those dark days.) My current bikini is a really cool high waisted one from Topshop a couple of years ago, but it really needs replacing so I spent a little while this afternoon trying to find something new. I find shopping for swimwear really hard because I'm definitely more of a swimsuit than a bikini gal which narrows down my choice a lot!

Urban Outfitters Out From Under Cut Out Swimsuit - £45
ASOS Candy Stripe Longline Bikini - £34.00
Topshop Peplum Swimsuit - £36.00

I know these are all a bit on the pricey side but quality is really important when it comes to swimwear. You don't want a jump-in-the-water-to-find-bikini-bottoms-are-halfway-across-the-pool type situation so I think a good swimsuit really is an investment piece. Which one is your favourite?
